Do you ever have trouble finding time to craft?
I often find myself in the mood to sew, and then I’m suddenly distracted by e-mails, the latest reality TV show or a game on my phone. Perhaps you find yourself in the same scenario, wishing you had more time to sew, knit or scrapbook, and instead you end up surfing the Web for hours at a time. Well, you’re not alone! And if you want to know the good news . . . there’s no need to get down about it!
The truth is that we all have productive crafting days, and we all have days that we just need to unplug. When you take time to watch a chick flick, spend some quality time on WeLuvBingo.com, or play with your kids, your finding those bits of inspiration that may just become your next finished craft project! For example, one of my favorite quilts that I’ve ever designed was created after a period of “crafter’s block.” I spent some time online looking for ideas, but I couldn’t come up with anything that really excited me. And then, after spending some quality time with my husband, he came up with the most brilliant idea for my next quilt!
In case you’re still waiting for inspiration to strike, here are some tips for incorporating more crafting into your everyday life:
- Take your hand-sewing project or portable knitting projects on the go. Whether you’re sitting on the bus or in the back aisle of the movie theater, there are lots of little moments for crafting if you really keep your eyes open.
- If you’re traveling and you can’t craft, why not download a crafty phone app? You can get inspiration from online crafting communities that might just spark your next big project idea.
- Pamper yourself. This may come as a given, but getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, eating right and drinking plenty of water—all of these things will contribute to your energy, including how much creative energy you have available.
