I haven’t mentioned on the blog yet, but I’m currently expecting our second child in May! We’ve been trying to explain the countdown to our son but he doesn’t completely understand the passing of days and time quite yet. So when I heard about this Marking the Date calendar book I thought it would be perfect for him! Every day we put a new sticker on the calendar. The book is great because my son gets to carry it around and open it up each day as he waits for baby and it’s his own special project. He’s 2 1/2 so the passing of time is still a bit hazy for him but this book gives him a physical activity to mark each day. It helps him understand that it’s something we do once each day until the baby arrives so he now has a better idea of how long he has to wait.
There are over 500 stickers included for just normal days and for special days like birthdays, trips, and holidays. The book includes 12 months of the year so you could use it for major events like a baby’s arrival or a deployed family member coming home, or you could countdown to birthdays, trips, people visiting or whatever’s happening in your life! There’s even enough stickers for your kid to put some on his shirt, which my son especially enjoyed.

I’d use the calendar for my 2.5 year old to help understand the passage of time while we wait for things like family trips, holidays, special occasions, and the birth of her new brother/sister. Brilliant idea as she absolutely loves stickers!

This is such a great idea!!! Time is a difficult concept for young children especially. We count “sleeps” since they can grasp that better than days. Would love to win this calendar and try it out….we have several very special days to anticipate! 🙂 Thanks!
We have a 3 boys under age 5… the more babies the merrier, I think! Hearty congratulations to your family! We are planning a special Disney holiday in late 20122, this calendar would be perfect for helping our little ones count down the days!
We homeschool year round, so this would be great for them to see the 6 weeks on 1 week of schedule or those even longer special breaks we have for Easter and Christmas

What a fun book! I would give this to my daughter who is expecting her third baby in August. Her firstborn, who is also my first grandchild is 4 and her second baby is my first granddaughter and she is 2. They would have so much fun with this calendar.

What a super neat idea. My son is in the Marine Corp and will be deploying to Afghanistan in April. I would use this book for my grandson to help him with understanding days and time for different events coming up. The biggest event though would be when his Daddy would be coming home from deployment.

My 2 year old has just “discovered” stickers and he’s learning quickly how to use them. Right now he loves to put them on his shirt or the back of his hands. This calendar would be such a fun and practical way of representing time! I think it could help him with counting skills and also help him look forward to events while avoiding the anxiety of “how many sleeps until…?” Thanks for suggesting such a useful product!

My niece’s dad is in the military. This book would be good to have on hand in the event he is called to serve away from home.
I love the counting in sleeps! We often say that we have “3 more ni-nights before we get to go to the zoo” or whatever. Don’t you wish you could go back to having childlike anticipation and excitement?
