An error occurs when coins are incorrectly struck during minting, some can have die chips while others have die breaks. Quarter errors are valued depending on the size, shape, and type. A die chip is additional material on the face of a coin and is not connected to the coin design. At the same time, a die break occurs when a coin is missing a piece from the edge.

What Are the Errors in the 2021 Quarter?

The Denver and Philadelphia US mints emitted some coins casually in 2021. Other mints like the Fransisco had struck coins but never released them, while the West Point mint had struck some unique issue coins but never circulated them to the public. The West Point mint sold the error coins to collectors only.

Is 2021 Crossing the Delaware Quarter Rare?

Since the coins with the lowest number of graded coins have the highest value, the Crossing the Delaware coin gained much popularity due to its high grades. The 2021-D Double Die Reverse and 25C graded MS67 of Crossing the Delaware Quarter were extremely rare and sold at a high value.

In addition, a 2021-P 25C of Crossing Delaware graded at MS67 was a unique collectible 2021 quarter that sold at a premium.

What’s Special About the 2021 Quarter?

The 2021 Washington crossing the Delaware quarter is the only one of its kind. During the revolutionary war, the obverse (heads) of the quarter will revert to designer John Flanagan’s design of President Washington that was on the coin before the state program.

Only one year after the 2021 Washington crossing Delaware issue, the US mint will launch a new program, the American Women’s Quarter, a four-year program that will run from 2023 through 2025. The US mint will release five new designs each year, but the obverse of each coin will still portray George Washington.

However, the design will differ from the previous quarter’s program, making 2021 crossing Delaware an exceptional quarter. The coin will be used as a transition between two coin series programs and could be worth more than expected.

2021 Quarter Errors List

The 2021 quarter errors are illustrated on the Washington Crossing the Delaware quarter errors and collections. Also, the 2021 Alabama Tuskegee Airmen Commemorative quarter. Some noted errors include the following:

Are There 2021 Coin Errors?

Apart from the final coin of the Tuskegee Airmen quarter and crossing the Delaware quarter errors, the year 2021 also featured some errors in the following coins.

Pennies

  • One of the errors was the “spiked heads” with a line running from Lincoln’s head to the edge (rim) of the coin. It results from a die break and is valued at around $15.
  • Another is the “cracked skull,” with a diagonal line running across. It is valued at about $5.

Nickels

  • The 2021 Jefferson nickel has a reverse die deteriorating double error, which can cost around 25 dollars going up.

Dimes

  • The 2021 dime error, known as the “cracked skull,” is very similar to the “spiked head” error. It portrays some die chips on the reverse of the whole roll of BU coins. The entire roll has a similar error, valued at 30 dollars for the roll.

Conclusion

Since the US mint released only two quarters, you can still find more die chip and die clash errors on different uncirculated initial bank-wrapped coin rolls. The Mint error value depends on the condition of the error coin. The fewer error coins produced, the more the value. In most cases, error coins are more valuable than standard coins, especially rare ones.
