Crochet bucket hats are the perfect accessory for a summer day. They are cool and comfortable, and they protect your head from the sun. They are also very easy to make. All you need is a crochet hook and some yarn. The easiest way to make a crochet bucket hat is to use a pattern. There are many different patterns available online of course, but I shall offer my own version here. Enjoy!

Material needed to crochet the bucket hat

  • 200 grams of any fingering acrylic yarn or cotton yarn (if you are using two colors 100 grams of each color)
  • 2.5 mm crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Stitches used in the project

Ch chain
Sl st slip stitch
Sc single crochet
Inc  Increase

Gauge

You don’t need a specific gauge for this hat. But there is a stitch gauge of 6 to 7 sts in one inch.

Size

I have made this an adult size you can make it small by using a smaller hook or by measuring with the brim as we will make it first so it will be easy to measure the head size.

Options

Depending on the final thickness you wish to go for you could choose a lighter version with Sport weight yarn or a slightly thicker version with DK weight yarn.

*Special note*

  • I will use two colors, to make it easier, I have mentioned color A and color B work as

Asc: A color single crochet

Bsc: B color single crochet

Mahnoor Malik Awan

Hi, I’m Mahnoor Malik Awan, a Crocheter, artist, freelancer, and writer. Art & Craft have been my best buddy for as far as I can remember. I used to make clothes and write stories when playing with my dolls. I even tried to record a film with my camera phone at the age of 10, where I was the director, writer, producer at the same, along with making the dolls act. I love to crochet, there’s nothing that I haven’t tried with it; from home decor to amigurumi to clothes and much more. I still remember how I used to sleep all day after school and one day my Mom bought me a hook and a ball of yarn and dropped me at my neighbors. She said “No More Sleeping In Noon.” And drove off. I’m still grateful to her for making this decision for me. I live in Pakistan with My Parents and Siblings. My Love for Craft has Honoured me with the Title of Crocheter and Ghostwriter. The Two jobs that don’t feel like working at all.
