What State Quarters Are Worth Money

All US states have their own quarter currency. Let’s look at some state quarter values:

2000 New Hampshire State Quarter

The coin is popular among collectors because of its unique errors. Artisans in the Philadelphia mint struck the coin on a Jefferson Nickel, resulting in a double imperfection. The coins bear the mistake in the reverse. The coins are scarce; therefore, their value is higher in the best mint state. The quarter-dollar coin is valued at $216.

2004 Wisconsin State Quarter

The Numismatic Guaranty Company rates the 2004 Wisconsin state quarter highly because of its beautiful art. The coin features a cow next to a leaf’s corn and a large cheese chunk. Ideally, the currency is valued among collectors who love and honor Wisconsin’s culture.

2004 Wisconsin State Quarter

The Philadelphia mint released massive numbers of the Wisconsin quarter; hence, they aren’t rare. Coins with errors (the extra leaf) are worth a fortune. Depending on the coin’s mint state, the coin’s price ranges from $95 to $300.

1999-S Delaware State Quarter Proof

The quarter dollar has a beautiful silver surface making it a treasure worth several dollars. It is a hard-to-find currency since only a few coins have left the mint factory. The proof coin can fetch $788 when in the best mint state. Collectors seek to find the coin because it was the first one that the San Francisco mint struck in the State series.

2008 Alaska State Quarter

The 2008 Alaska state quarter is a unique treasure because it entails an occasional imperfection of a noticeable clipped side. Some of these quarter-dollar coins have varied shapes of clips. In their best condition, the coin can sell for up to $81.

Are 1965 Quarters Worth Money?

1965 quarters available in excellent mint state can fetch a fortune, as elaborated below:

1965 Washington Quarter

The 1965 Washington quarter is unique to collectors because it’s among the silver quarters with a melt value worth more than its face value. Due to hoarding in the 1965 era, congress shifted the production of Silver quarter dollar coins to copper-nickel alloy.

The coin’s fascinating history influences its high price tag. In the best mint state, the price can range between $3000 to $10000.

Are 1970s Quarters Worth Money?

Some 1970s quarters are worth more than their face value (25 cents). Here are examples:

1976-S Washington Quarter

The 1976-S Washington quarter is valuable among collectors, miners, and historians because the government released it to honor the nation’s history. The quarter-dollar coin supported the US 200th anniversary. The coin was struck in the San Francisco mint.

Unlike other coins produced in the 1970s incorporating copper-nickel alloy, the 1976-s Washington quarter coin integrated 40% silver quality. The most valuable coins are uncirculated and the proof ones. The proof version of the coin glows with a distinctive luster and a mirror-like surface. The prices of the quarter dollar coin can vary depending on the mint state, with an estimated price range of $8.61 up to $19,200.

Factors That Determine the Value of Quarters

Age

Mint year plays a vital role in coin valuation. Coins with old age have a higher value, especially those struck before 1965. Coins struck between 1932 and 1964 comprised silver composition, whereas those struck between 1965 and 1998 encompassed copper-nickel clad. Silver coins are worth more than copper-nickel clad; hence those struck within the years incorporating silver have more value.

Condition

A coin’s condition influences its value directly. Best Mint State condition attracts premium prices, whereas low mint state fetches lower profits.

Rarity

Not all coins leave the minting factory in perfect condition. Coins with many errors are more valuable because they are scarce. Common valuable mistakes include broad struck, double die, and overstruck.

Historical Significance

Various US states have their own quarters. The idea behind the coin’s mintage was to group the quarter-dollar coins into five sets and then release them as per each state’s birthday. Quarters from some states are valued higher because they marked the end of a specific era.

How to Evaluate the Value of Your Quarters

If you seek to evaluate your coins before selling, the best option is to visit some reputable coin dealers.

For further research on the grading scale, you can visit web pages like PCGS, US Mint, Etsy, JM Bullion, Live Auctioneers, and eBay.
